Wild and Crazy
Hey that sure was wild and crazy having the guys go to the fitness room first today! Okay, I know, I need to get a life.
Tomorrow will be a medium easy day with a 15 minute jog one mile run at 800 race pace (just kidding - I wanted to see if you were paying attention) It will be at one mile race pace. Afterwards -choice 15+ minute cool down and post stretch or 4 fast 200's and a 10 minute cool down and post stretch.
On Friday we get out at noon. I suggest we do our workout as soon as possible and then go eat. I can make it an easy day if we all promise to be at practice on Saturday at 10:00 for a workday. That will give us two recovery days in a row.
Remember on Thursday we are one week away from our first meet.
More info is coming in on the Jackson meet. We will be allowed six athletes in each distance event. That's 12 athletes in each event boys and girls. It will be high level competition. We'll talk some more.
I'm reading, "Barfing with the Runaloes", Scratch that - it's "Running with the Buffaloes" by Chris Lear. I have only read the opening while at the dentist this morning, so I can't say much. I recently read another book by Chris Lear, Sub 4:00 which is about Alan Webb who broke Jim Ryun's high school mile record. I thought it was going to be about Alan breaking the record, but it was really about his trials and tribulations at Michigan. It's a good read if you are really into running and racing. In some ways it's a manual of what not to do to yourself. I also recently read Dale Carnegies book, "How to Make Friends and Influence People". Read it and apply it to running or read it and apply it to your life. By the way all book titles should be underlined, but I haven't fiqured out how to do that under this format. If you would like to borrow one of these books you may. I also have a Prefontaine book around.
Happy Trails.
