Jordan 4:19.08 Graydon 9:36.11 Bailey 2:20.80

It wasn't a great day for distance running, but we didn't care. Jordan is now 2nd on the All - time list in the 1600, Graydon 6th in the 3200, and Bailey 3rd in the 800.
Weds, is the NQ meet at Lincoln - also known as the Last Chance meet. Friday is the Shaner Invite. in Tumwater. Sat. is the Frosh Invite in Centralia. If you are in any of these meets you still have a chance to qualify for League.

Coaching error - I needed to tell the 1200 meter runners to run their race not like it was three quarters of a mile, but an 800 with a 400 tacked on. This means you would be coming by the 800 meters within five seconds of your best 800 meters time.

Go Capital!

Thanks for helping with the JMS and MMS kids today. No one can sell this sport like you. Tomorrow should be interesting. Some people are trying some new events and Oly. is holding out some athletes because they need to recover a bit from the Eason Invite. PLease remember to help with the hurdles and if you are not running the girls 3200, and most of you are not, please help set the hurdles up at the beginning before the beginning of the meet. The only way out of helping is if you run the girls 3200 - and no Spaceman you may not run the girls 3200. Please remind your parents we need help. I will be needing help with splits, so if you are not racing or are finished racing I might need a hand.

OUT OF CLASS AT 2:00 BUS LEAVES AT 2:15

See you while helping set up the hurdles tomorrow!

I'M BAAAACK!

I had no e mail for two days. Did you know that the individual outlets on electrical strips can go bad? Well they can and it did. I tried every trick in the book including the famous call Comcast one and they offered a variety of numbers to select to ease my pain. Finally I actually made contact with a human and he suggested I try another outlet. It seemed way too simple, but it worked. I hope they don't keep a top 20 list of Bozos. Historical note -Bozo was a popular TV clown back in the 50's and 60's. He looked quite a bit like Ronald McDonald, but was less intelligent. By the way I will buy a free milkshake for anyone bringing a Map of Washington State with Ronald McDonald's grave circled. Yes, it is true, he is buried some where in our great state.
Great workout last night. I hope those of you seeking a league qualifier are feeling fresh and ready to go Thursday. It gets a bit daffy at this time of year with all the last chance efforts. Historical note - Daffy is a cartoon duck easily recognized by his call of, " WOO HOO! WOO HOO!" He can be found hanging out with the likes of Porky Pig.

For the coaches we have the time that we call the ten days with five meets. After that it's a piece of cake. Historical note - Cake was - Oh never mind.

See ya on the track.

How's it going? Help!

Hope you are enjoying this weekend - especially those of you who have competed the past three. Most of you should run at least an easy 30 minute run either Sat. or Sun. We will be having our hard workout on Monday this week. Some of you will complete your season on May 2nd. If you are a Frosh and have not qualified for league you will be finished on Sat. May 6th. I will not have any Male Frosh Athletes compete at the Tumwater Invite since the Frosh Invite is the next day. Some of the girls might be called to help out at Tumwater because they are an important part of the relays.
We will be in charge of the meet on Thursday withn Oly. and Bellarmine. We need all the help we can get to pull this off. Please ask your parents to help. Our goal will be to have the meet completed by 6:30 and with lots of help it will happen.

Max is the newest member of the Sub 5 Club.
Depending on who you are you have between two and five meets remaining - possibly six if you qualify for league at the NQ meet.

Tis the season to get faster

So how fast do you want to run? Now is the time to be thinking about pace. What will it take per lap to run a 6:00, 5:00 or 4:14 mile? What does it take to run a sub 2:20 or 2:00 800? What about a 13:00, 12:00, 11:00, 10:00, or 9:00 3200? Figure it out and write it on your arm in ink, if it helps, pencil doesn't work too well and Jordan tells me it's painful. Do you want to qualify for league - then practice at that pace. Set your goal and shoot for the stars - if you only hit the moon that's not too bad.
Excellent job on the intervals this afternoon. I checked on most of you and you were hitting your intended goal pace. We have practiced at a variety of paces and distances allowing you to move between the 400 to 3200. Where you end up will be your choice.

Who will be the next athletes to enter the Sub 5 and Sub 6 Clubs?

See ya on the track!

I have included the Heat Ln. and Flight information on the original Pasco entry below.

More Pasco update

You will be needing money for lunch and dinner on Friday and Sat. Breakfast will be at the Best Western for free. We have scratched the girls 4x4 due to not enough athletes able to attend. This is a good time to remind athletes and parents how wonderful February is for vacations, school visitations etc.

We will be practicing Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at 3:00. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be the the "hard days"

I hope to have a bit more time to get your splits published here soon. Meanwhile I'll give you a quick run down of the Davis meet in Yakima. For the first time since we have been attending this meet it rained - but was not windy. Amanda won the Frosh/Soph 1600, Adam won the Frosh/Soph 1600, Ted won the Frosh/Soph 800 and was quickly followed by Max with a second and Jacob with a third. Jordan won the 3200. Graydon was third in the 1600 and set a PR. Katie was third in the 3200 and Mork was fifth. Bailey was second in the 800. The Frosh/Soph 4x4 was won by Max, Adam, Jacob, and Ted. Ted was named the Frosh/Soph athlete of the meet.
There was a lot of cardinal and gold up at the front of the distance races. The best is yet to come. More later..........

Thank You

The Miller family would like to thank you for the wonderful card you gave us on Sat. Your thoughts were greatly appreciated and we displayed the card in Mrs. Miller's hospital room. She is home now and doing better. The doctor says she could be better tomorrow, a week from now, or a month. We'll see - she's a fighter and wants to return as quickly as possible.

I will not be at practice tomorrow. It's a recovery day so you have a 35 -50 minute run keeping your pulse between 130 and 150. See you Weds.
