Senior Moment - Stephanie Schmitt

Stephanie hails from McCleary. I’m not sure what middle school she attended. Many people on our team don’t know this, but Stephanie was the McCleary Bear Festival Queen. For an entire year she spend most of her summer Saturdays riding on a float with a giant paper mache (sp?) bear and handed out bowls of bear stew to the spectators. Stephanie comes from a long line of bear related siblings. There of course was Teddy. Then came Jeff whose major claim to fame was bear crawling up the hills at Sunfair. It has been nearly a decade of Schmitts, and I don’t know if I can bear to see the last of them go.
Stephanie is a member of the sub – six club. She has been on at least two state bound teams. She as been a captain and a leader and a three sport athlete. She was this year’s winner of the Capital City Marathon Scholarship.
Stephanie will be attending UBC this fall and I know she will always stay active. Her smiling face and talent will be missed.
