Graydon 4th and 5th at State

Graydon wrapped up his season in Pasco with a 4th place 9:16 and a 5th place 4:16. The 9:16 was the second fastest 3200 run by a Capital athlete. The fastest, 9:10.01 was run by Graydon a week before at districts. The 4:16 1600 was the second fastest by a Capital athlete and just shy of the 4:15.8 record.

Amanda fought a very aggressive battle in the 3200. She ran the first mile in 5:30 and was in the top group and then her seasons bout with anemia began to catch up with her. She struggled bravely to the finish running a very decent time. I had numerous people, who knew about her anemia problems, comment about how tough she ran.

Guys - sweats in on Weds. Anyone - ultimate frisbee afterwards.

A big thank you to all of those making our banquet and season a success. Again as I said last night, we are able to do more than the average team because we have way above average parents.

Big Weekend Ahead

This will be one of our biggest weekend ahead for track and Cross Country. Not only do we have the District Meet at Mt Tahoma, but we have the Capital City Marathon. We always help with the marathon, because it is a fun thing to do and the Marathon Association not only gives us $1000.00 for our efforts, but also allows us to do the Lakefair Run which is a major fundraiser for us.
To top this all off, on Monday at 6:00 we have our awards banquet featuring hamburgers flipped by Jack Uglick. This will be a combination celebration of the season and a send off to those participating in the state meet.

So here is the schedule:

Friday - District Meet
Saturday - District Meet
Sunday - Help with the Capital City Marathon
Monday - Awards Banquet and send off 6:00

League Meet

For information on the league meet go to athletic.net. Photos should be arriving soon. A league championship for the girls and a fourth for the boys which was one place higher than we had predicted. Both the boys and girls teams are young and we should get better each year.

Distance - wise we dominated with firsts in the girls 800, 1600, 3200 and first in the boys 1600 and 3200. We also picked up a second in the 800 and numerous thirds, fourths, fifths etc.

Capital City Marathon May 20th

We will be needing the help of everyone on May 20, and also a few people on May 19. We will be in charge of the food in Sylvester Park. That's the park with the gazebo in downtown Olympia across from the old Capitol Building.

Saturday about four people are needed to set up tents at 9:00 in Sylvester Park. This should take about an hour.

Sunday we need everyone there at 8:30 to get the food ready, and to help at the finish.

The Marathon Association will be giving us $1000 for helping. You can also get volunteer hours. I'll gladly sign for you.

http://picasaweb.google.com/orcadan/FreshmanMeet Tosh won the 100 and 200, Nathan won the 800 and placed second in the 1600, and Josh destroyed the field in the 3200 at the Frosh Meet. Also getting PR's were Tosh, Josh, Gunnar, Brad and Squidney. Oliva placed third in the discus. I hope I haven't missed anyone.
