CHARACTER

I read somewhere that running and racing do not develop character - it exposes it. I tend to agree, but would like to take that statement a step further. If the character trait exposed is positive congratulate yourself - you deserve it. If the character trait is negative, then you should act to make changes. Do you give up in the third phase of a race? Make it a goal to not give in until you are ten feet past the finish line. Do you space not race? Just remember, when you are not passing someone, you should be thinking about who you will be passing next. Do you give in to the negatives - it's too hot/cold/wet/dry - I have a cold - I have an ingrown toe nail - My coach is mean to me - I'm tired etc. Your physical condition and the environmental conditions just might not be optimal, but the team needs you! You have worked really hard and you deserve to do well. You have planted the seed, done the work and over the next couple of weeks you should be enjoying the harvest- even if it isn't exactly the harvest you had in mind. Go Cougs!
