Oregon Relays - 14th out of 34 schools
The Oregon relays began with a splash with Nick and Emily competing and setting school records in the steeple chase. Emily wowed the crowd by falling over a barrier right in front of the stands. The crowd went wild as Emily pulled herself together and then attacked the rest of the race placing 6th.
Not to be out done by the steeple chasers, the boy's DMR set a school record with an 11:02.83 effort. The team of Dalton, Max, Ted and Adam picked up a 6th place. The girls DMR of Amanda, Kailyn, Stephanie and Johannah then sped to a 9th place finish. Josh PR'd in the 3000 running the equivalent of a 10;05 3200.
On Saturday Adam ran a stellar 2:00.68, made it look easy and moved to number 14 on the All time list. But before that happened Brianne had a huge PR in the 3000.
Other PR's:
Nick 1500
John 173'3"
Sprint Medley second with a fine anchor leg of 2:03 by Nathan
Max 52.52 400
Kailyn and Amanda - close to a PR
A great meet with splendid performances!

Oregon Relays
Leave Friday A.M. at 10:00. We will be staying at the Days Inn, Eugene 1-541-342-6383. If you stay at the hotel with us it will cost you $35.00. Please pay this to the ASB when you return that way I have a handle on who stayed with us. (Last year some people stayed with there parents or did not show up and there was confusion) I will provide the ASB with a list after we return.
Pease get in your permission slips Weds. If I do not receive them at the meet you will have to bring them by my house after the meet. Also I will be needing the rest of the parent drivers forms.
We should arrive home between midnight and 1:00 on Sunday AM. If we will be later, I will have athletes call.

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like-----------
Snow in the middle of April - who'd a thunk it? For only the second time in my career as a runner and coach a meet was cancelled. The last time was 40 years ago. Yeah, I'm that old. I began running when I was two though.
Distance runners get in at least a 40 -50 minute run today or tomorrow!

The End Is Near
If you have not qualified for League, and it appears that you won't then, you have 10 days remaining.
If you are a Frosh and not qualified for League, you have 20 days left.
If you have qualified for League and you have little chance of moving on to Districts you have 27 days.
If you make it to Districts, but not State, you will be gracing us with your presence for 34 days.
State is 41 days.
Sixteen athletes may qualify in each event for the League Meet from the WCC. There are qualifying standards, but if not enough athletes qualify then the top 16 are selected. If more than 16 athletes surpass the qualifying standards then they all make it.

A special thanks to the parents who came to the rescue Saturday morning when we thought the bus was not going to show up. It was amazing how quickly and willingly you showed up to help out.
Speaking of helping out, we will be needing help on the 23rd for our final duel meet at home against Clover Park. We have received very positive feedback from the other teams about the job are volunteers have been doing. If you see our AD Steve Bellande, thank him for footing the bill for our results crew. It is worth every penny.
We get out of class Weds. to go to NT @ 2:15. Bus departs at 2:30. This meet is for everyone!
Bus on Saturday departs @ 7:15 for Snohomish. We should get home around 9:00 PM. This meet is by invitation only. We will submit times and names and then about the Thursday before the Saturday meet, we will be notified about validated entrys.

Distance Workouts for Vacation
Distance workouts will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 3:00. We really need to focus on post stretching. Post stretching is important because the act of running shortens the muscles. Stretching right after running, while the muscles are warm, helps maintain flexibility.

Boys Win 108 -35 and Girls Win 100-45
Great efforts by all tonight. An enormous amount of PR's in all areas. Hey and it didn't snow! If you need to see your official times etc. go to Athletic.net. Distance runners or anyone: For fun go to Athletic.net and click on WCC and go 20 deep. The top 16 qualify for league or automatically qualify if they hit the qualifying mark.
Splits will be up tomorrow.

Welcome to Millrun
I handed out a lot of flyers to parents and 8th grade athletes last night at the open house, so I'm assuming some of your are visiting this site for the first time. This site grew out of the frustration of handing out flyers, that were supposed, to go home and often times ended up left on the floor. Meanwhile, bewildered parents didn't know when or where things were happening. It has morphed into a place of celebration and a location to share meet photos, as well.
Dan Saul has been our official photographer for the last three years, but all photos of meets from parents or friends are welcome. If you like to write, I would gladly publish your take on a meet, trip or etc.
Welcome aboard! If you have questions just e mail me at: jlmiller@osd.wednet.edu I might even feature your question (sans identification) on Millrun
