Madrone Peak

I hiked up to Madrone Peak over the weekend with my trusty dog Achilles. I went to sign in and discovered two names I did not recognize on the register. For more info on how to conquer Madrone Peak check past entries.

Went to a three way meet between Griffin, Jefferson and Reeves today and met some very promising athletes. It looks as though the distance tradition will continue at CHS.

Colin Third, Joseph Seventh at State

Colin placed 3rd in state in the 300 hurdles. His effort made him the top 3/4A finisher from the area. Joseph finished 7th in the Javelin with a near PR 180". Amanda and Emily raced hard, but finished out of the money.

Saturday, May 24, 2008

Amanda 5th, Emily 11th, Colin in Finals

Amanda ran an 11:13 and Emily followed with an inspired 11:37 PR. Colin will be in the final in the 300's today after running a PR of 39.34 to land him 2nd on the all time list. Adam and Logan did an ecellent job of filling the ice chest - however it would have been more fun watching them compete. Joseph, Amanda, Emily and Colin compete this afternoon.

Sweats hand in right after school on Tuesday!

Capital City Marathon This Weekend

The Capital City Marathon will be needing our help this Saturdaynand Sunday. On Saturday at 9:00 am Chris and Dalton would like some help for two hours setting up tents in Sylvester Park in Downtown Olympia. On Sunday help will be needed from about 8:30 am to 1:30 pm to hand out food and water to the runners in Sylvester Park. A good meeting point is the gazebo. If you have religious services to attend feel free to come over afterwards and help. It is always nice to have some fresh workers at take down time.

Why help:

The Marathon Association gives us $1000.00, for our Stanford trips in XC and our Oregon Relays trip in Track.

You get volunteer credits - I'll sign the papers.

Free food!

It makes CHS and our Track and XC teams look good to the community.

It is a good and fun thing to do.

Bus Leaves at 8:15 am Friday

If you don't travel on the bus, you must attend school to compete that day. I highly recommend the 3200 meter runners wait and come up with a parent later - unless you have another event. Be prepared for all types of weather - and don't forget the sunscreen.

Lots of PR's Thursday and today! Amanda won both the 1600 and 3200 and was followed by Emily in second, who had a ten second PR in the 1600. Brianne finished fifth in the 3200 with a big PR and also had a big PR in the 1600. Ted raced a close second in the 800 and Adam finished right behind. Adam finished second in the 1600 with Nathan finishing in fourth with a 10 second PR. Kailyn finished fourth and earned a berth to the district meet. Max also moves on to districts with a PR.

Frosh Invite

Another great meet for Capital Track and Field! Greg won both hurdles setting a PR in the lows. Logan jumped 6'0" to tie the all time HJ mark. I'll enter some other marks as they become available. These marks are like the hairs on my head - off the top.

Here are the 2008 photos for the Shaner Invite:

Thanks Dan!

Shaner Invite. Tumwater

I haven't seen the results yet, but it is a safe bet that Capital won the boys section of the Shaner Invite. We have the trophy anyway - thanks to Coach Wright's quick thinking. WE were second overall as a co-ed team. Lot's of PR's:

Adam, Nick and Ryan in the 1600
Amanda, Emily Dalton and Zach in the 3200
Ted, Emily and Kailyn in the 800
Max 400
Cannon 100
Colin 200, 300's
John TJ
Joseph Javelin
Greg 110's
4x4 of Max, Adam, Cannon and Colin
4x1 of Cannon, Colin, John and Joseph
Ayana TJ and 300's
Olivia Discus and Shot
Ayla Shot
Jacob 400

These are all I know off the top of my head having looked at Athletic.net briefly. I'm sure there are more and I'll add them when I have a bit more time. The results for the meet are in the Olympian. Meanwhile, I'm off to the Frosh Meet in Elma.

Excellent competitive performances!
