What Does It Mean?

What Does It Mean?

I have never seen a wild pig until the other day. I have observed areas where they have rooted around leaving ruts. I have heard the grunts and moving of brush just off of the trail and was left nervously wondering whether a huge hog would come charging out. This day was to be different, I would finally actually see a pig. It was a small pig and it was dead in the middle of the road.We almost ran over it. We continued on to our destination and a several hours hike down a sea cliff and back. On our return trip the pig was still there, but a dead mongoose was splatted in the road next to it.Apparently the mongoose had come out to feast on the pig and met his demise as well.
I'm not sure what this all means, but I have come to believe it has some significance.

I believe the moral here is never play in traffic and never, never eat breakfast lunch or dinner in the middle of the road.

If you have any other ideas feel free to e mail me at millrun@comcast.net. We are only one week out from the '09
Track season. Make sure you are cleared.

Volcanoes Stink

We visited Volcanoes National @arks today and it stunk - litterally. The sulfer dioxide levels were at a dangerously high and many trails were closed. We decided to grab some lunch at the Volcano House which overlooked the crater. During lunch we remembered a trail we had seen along the road on the way up and thought it might be far enough away from the crater to hike safely. After driving for about five miles, we parked, put on our hiking boots, arranged our packs and hit the trail. About 100' into the hike a sign straddled the path declaring the trail closed due to dangerous levels of gas.Did that stop us - heck yes.

See Ya Later

I'm headed out for 10 days. Coach Chris should be at the fitness portable most days. If you have a question e mail me at Millrun@comcast.net or call 360-918-1797. If anyone with evil intentions is reading this I want you to know someone is staying in our home. He's big, ugly and carries a shot gun. Our big dog is there as well and he is very territorial.

You Snow What I Mean?

"Training is a case of stress management. Stress then rest, stress then rest." Brooks Johnson

If there is no school tomorrow the fitness portable will not be open. This means you should call someone up and go running. Use it as an excuse for an O.B.E. (Out of building experience) Go to Millersylvania and run or Preist Point or ?

Track Stuff:

Please let any of your thrower friends know there will be a meeting with out new throws coach Mr. Sparks in his class room. Speaking of throws, we have a new discus cage going up and the shot area has been nicely groomed.

Distance runners: Watches are on sale at Big Five for 15 bucks. Workouts run more smoothly and are more meaningful if you have your own watch. I know that most of you use your cell phones to check the time, so you will have to make an effort to remember this tool. Showing up without a watch to practice is like showing up to class without a pen or pencil.

I went snow shoeing yesterday and have definitely added this to my cross training list. In the near future I plan to try it on snow.

We are working out MWF after school. All sports welcome.

Eighteen athletes showed up to winter conditioning on Weds. Friday should be scattered a bit and I won't be there, so I'll see you on Monday. We are only three weeks away from the first day and seven from competition.

What do two snails do when they get into a fight? They slug it out. Actually they snail it out and slugs, slug it out - but that's not as funny.
